The Democratic Rally has issued a sharp response to the controversial video circulating online, describing the revelations as shocking and extremely serious. Calling for clear and convincing answers from the government, the party is demanding a full investigation into the case while reviving its long-standing legislative proposal on the First Lady’s fund.
Democratic Rally (DISY) has submitted six specific questions to the government in relation to the video, urging immediate and credible explanations as well as a comprehensive investigation into the matter. At the same time, the party announced that it is reinstating its proposed bill concerning the First Lady’s fund.
DISY statement
In its statement, DISY said the revelations contained in the video are “shocking and extremely serious”, adding that society is watching “in disbelief” and demanding clear and convincing answers from the government. “Answers which, to date, have not been provided,” the party noted.
While acknowledging that the video could be the result of a malicious act that undoubtedly harms the country, DISY stressed that the core questions raised remain specific and unavoidable.
The six questions raised by DISY
- Are cash donations being accepted?
- Were donations received in exchange for political or financial favours?
- Is the Social Support Body being used in this way?
- Are donations being solicited from within the Presidential Palace?
- Were donors approached in this manner?
- Were false or inaccurate statements submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer?
- What exactly was said by those involved?
Serious suspicions
According to DISY, the available information raises serious suspicions of entanglement, illegal activity and lack of transparency, centred on the Presidential Palace, close associates of the President, and members of his family.
The party is calling for the immediate investigation of all aspects of the case, stressing that the country can only be protected through full transparency, accountability, and zero tolerance for corruption.
Reviving the legislative proposal
DISY concluded that what has been heard makes it imperative to revive its own bill on the First Lady’s fund and to take even more decisive measures, in order to ensure institutional accountability and transparency.
