Following more than 820 checks carried out by the Cyprus Police on Christmas night, a total of 102 traffic violations were recorded, according to an official police announcement.

Of these, 33 cases involved driving under the influence of alcohol, while six drivers tested positive during a preliminary drug screening.

Police further clarified that, in the context of investigating traffic-related offences, six vehicles were impounded. At the same time, four individuals were arrested for offences including car theft, possession of a knife and outstanding fine warrants.

According to the statement, the targeted operations, which include checks, patrols and interventions in areas of increased criminal activity, are carried out alongside the use of intelligence and in cooperation with other competent authorities. These actions form part of a broader and continuously reinforced plan to tackle crime, with heightened police presence and immediate operational response across all districts.
