A busy night unfolded for the police on Tuesday, as officers arrested ten individuals during targeted preventive operations carried out across key urban areas.
In a statement, the police said the actions formed part of ongoing, focused operations with an enhanced presence at strategic locations, aimed at preventing serious criminal activity, protecting the public and maintaining public order.
According to the announcement, four people were arrested for residing illegally in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, while two others were taken into custody in connection with cases of domestic violence.
Police also arrested one individual for failure to appear in court, two people for possession of burglary tools, and one person for driving under the influence of alcohol and causing a road collision that resulted in material damage only.
During the night, officers stopped 397 vehicles for inspection and checked 97 occupants. In parallel, 30 premises were inspected as part of efforts to prevent and suppress unlawful behaviour.
Traffic checks resulted in 147 reports for various traffic offences, eight of which related to driving under the influence of alcohol. In total, 189 alcohol tests were conducted on drivers, while 19 vehicles were immobilised in the context of investigating traffic-related offences.
The police said these operations are part of a broader, continuous and increasingly reinforced preventive strategy, involving heightened police presence, targeted checks and immediate operational response across all districts, with the aim of preventing crime and strengthening the public’s sense of safety.
