Cyprus Youth Symphony Double Bassist Awarded US Summer Scholarship

Young musician Christos Peleties selected for full scholarship at Apple Hill summer academy in New Hampshire.

The Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra has announced that its scholarship holder and principal double bassist, Christos Peleties, has been selected to attend the summer academy of the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music in New Hampshire, United States, on a full scholarship.

The distinction follows masterclasses delivered in Cyprus by the Apple Hill String Quartet, during which Peleties was selected for participation in the academy’s summer programme.

Selection to the Apple Hill summer academy

Peleties, who serves as principal double bassist of the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra, will join the prestigious summer academy of the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music. His participation will be fully funded through a scholarship.

The selection comes after a series of masterclasses led by the Apple Hill String Quartet, offering young musicians the opportunity to develop their chamber music skills under international guidance.

Congratulations and acknowledgements

The Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra extended its congratulations to Christos Peleties and to his teacher, Nikos Ioannou, for the achievement.

The organisation also expressed its appreciation to the members of the Apple Hill String Quartet and to George Georgiou for their support and valuable contribution.
