A weak low pressure system is affecting Cyprus, bringing periods of cloud, localised rainfall and suspended dust in the atmosphere. Temperatures are expected to rise slightly over the weekend, remaining above climatic averages through Monday.
Current conditions and atmospheric pattern
Today’s weather will be mainly cloudy at times, with local rain expected intermittently. Isolated thunderstorms cannot be ruled out. Thin dust will be suspended in the atmosphere at intervals.
Winds will blow from the north east to south east, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort and temporarily, mainly along windward coasts, strong at up to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be slight to rough. Temperatures will rise to around 19 degrees Celsius inland and along the coasts, and around 11 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.
Conditions overnight
Tonight, conditions will remain mainly cloudy, with the possibility of locally light rain. Winds will be mainly north easterly, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be slight to rough. Temperatures will fall to around 10 degrees inland, about 13 degrees along the coasts and around 4 degrees in the higher mountains.

On Saturday, the weather will be partly cloudy. Isolated showers are possible, mainly in western areas and over the mountains.
Outlook for Sunday and Monday
On Sunday and Monday, conditions will be mainly clear, although periods of increased cloud will be observed at times. Temperatures will record a slight rise on Saturday and remain at similar levels on Sunday and Monday, staying above the seasonal average for the time of year.
