The Lyme Bay is an amphibious landing ship equipped to operate as an aviation platform and includes medical facilities. It is frequently used for humanitarian missions and disaster relief operations. According to Sky News, the vessel can also provide logistical support, at-sea replenishment and operational assistance to the Royal Navy and Royal Marines worldwide.
