Two Greek Navy frigates are currently positioned in Limassol Bay, according to available information. Their presence comes at a time of heightened security activity in the Eastern Mediterranean following the recent escalation in the Middle East and increased military movements around Cyprus.

Naval presence off Limassol

The vessels were observed anchored off the coast of Limassol, adding to the growing number of allied military assets operating in the wider maritime area around Cyprus in recent days.

Cyprus has become an important logistical and monitoring point during the current regional tensions, with several allied countries deploying naval or aerial assets to the Eastern Mediterranean.

Heightened regional activity

The presence of the Greek frigates coincides with broader defensive and monitoring measures taken by European and allied states following recent attacks and security incidents linked to the conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States.

Authorities have not issued further official details regarding the mission or expected duration of the vessels’ presence in Limassol Bay.
