Government says aim is to announce the appointment of criminal investigators “as soon as possible.”

The government aims to announce the appointment of criminal investigators “as soon as possible,” Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis told CNA regarding the reports linked to the book Mafia State.

Asked by CNA when the appointment of criminal investigators is expected for the probe into the findings recorded in the report of the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority and the final report by inspection officials on the investigation related to the book, the spokesman said the goal is for an announcement “as soon as possible.”

It is noted that the Prosecution Council decided last week to forward the two reports in full, along with all accompanying documents, to both the Police and the Council of Ministers, so that the prescribed procedures can proceed for the investigation of any potential criminal offences arising from the findings.

According to CNA, announcements on the matter may be made on Wednesday, when the Council of Ministers is scheduled to meet.
