A body recovered on Wednesday during search operations at the site of the Filo Jet ferry disaster off Kyrenia has been identified as Ismail Kurt, one of the two Turkish Cypriot passengers listed among the missing.
According to Turkish Cypriot news websites Haber Kıbrıs and Gerçek, the identification was made following the necessary examinations.
The discovery raises the confirmed death toll from the disaster to nine.
Search efforts continue
Authorities have not announced the recovery of any additional bodies.
Search and recovery operations remain under way as rescuers continue efforts to locate those still unaccounted for.
According to the latest figures, 19 people remain missing following the sinking of the vessel.
The Filo Jet disaster has triggered a major search-and-rescue operation involving local and Turkish authorities, while investigations into the circumstances of the sinking continue.
