Cyprus banks recorded a significant increase in both deposits and loans in June 2026, the Central Bank of Cyprus said.
The Central Bank published its deposit and loan statistics for the reference month of June 2026 today, included in its Monetary and Financial Statistics publication for July 2026.
Total deposits recorded a net increase of €601.2 million in June 2026, compared with a net increase of €343.8 million in May 2026. The annual rate of change in total deposits reached 5.0%, compared with 5.1% in May 2026. The balance of total deposits stood at €58.7 billion in June 2026.
Deposits by Cyprus residents rose by €626.2 million. More specifically, deposits by households and non-financial corporations increased by €49.7 million and €480.3 million respectively, while deposits by other domestic sectors rose by a combined €96.2 million.
Loans
Total loans recorded a net increase of €499.4 million in June 2026, compared with a net increase of €260.3 million in May 2026. The annual rate of change in total loans reached 11.6%, compared with 12.6% in May 2026. The balance of total loans stood at €28.6 billion in June 2026.
Loans to Cyprus residents rose by €213.7 million. More specifically, loans to households and non-financial corporations increased by €131.4 million and €90.1 million respectively, while loans to other domestic sectors recorded a combined decrease of €7.8 million.
