The eruption sent a dense ash plume more than 1,200 metres into the air and generated powerful tsunami-like waves inside the crater lake.

Dramatic footage has captured the eruption of Taal Volcano in the Philippines, which blasted a dense column of ash to a height of around 4,000 feet, or more than 1,200 metres.

Tsunami-like waves form in crater lake

During the volcanic activity, powerful waves resembling a tsunami formed in the lake inside the main crater, creating a scene that was both spectacular and concerning.

Despite the intensity of the eruption, no significant damage was reported.

Authorities continue to closely monitor the volcano's activity.
