US President Donald Trump made a new post on the Truth Social platform directed at Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, just weeks after their public disagreement.
The image he posted was a photomontage depicting Meloni as expressing admiration for the American president. It was accompanied by the phrase: “restraining order needed.”
Post dominates Italian media
The post appeared just hours before the NATO summit in Ankara and is already dominating Italian media coverage, with news outlets extensively reporting and commenting on it ahead of the expected meeting between the two leaders.
No response from Rome
So far, there has been no official reaction from the Italian government.
In recent weeks, Giorgia Meloni had stated that she did not wish to continue the public dispute.
