Government Pension Reform Bill Sent to Unions and Employers

Social partners will now study the proposed changes and formulate their positions as formal consultations begin.

 

A crucial debate over proposed changes to Cyprus’s pension system is now under way, following the presentation of the government’s draft legislation to social partners.

The Ministry of Labour outlined the proposal in detail during Wednesday’s meeting of the Labour Advisory Body.

Consultation process begins

The meeting marks the formal start of consultations. Trade unions and employers’ organisations will now examine the text and formulate their positions on the proposed reforms.

Alongside the leaders of the social partners, Registrar of Provident Funds Nicos Koullapis is also attending the meeting.
