Invest Cyprus promoted Cyprus as a technology and investment destination in the United States this week, during a closed roundtable held in Washington in cooperation with fDi Intelligence and the Financial Times.
The event took place on Monday, May 4, 2026, at The Westin Washington National Harbor, under the title “FDI shifts and the future of Europe’s investment landscape – Regulatory and investment conditions in Cyprus”. It was the fourth joint initiative organised with fDi Intelligence and FT Locations.
The discussion was moderated by Danielle Myles, Senior Editor at fDi Intelligence, and brought together company founders and investors to examine Cyprus’s potential role as a strategic gateway to the European Union for US technology companies.
Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Dr Nicodemos Damianou also took part in the discussion, underlining the government’s commitment to attracting quality investment and strengthening Cyprus’s position as a leading technology destination.
At the same time, Invest Cyprus is participating in the SelectUSA Investment Summit, using its presence there to promote Cyprus and engage directly with companies considering a European base.
Cyprus’s appeal to technology companies is supported by a series of recent developments, including the arrival of Tenstorrent, the establishment of Plug and Play Tech Center, and the strategic cooperation with NVIDIA for a national supercomputer. These are presented as part of a broader effort to position the country as a technology hub.
Lia Riri, Deputy CEO of Invest Cyprus, said the technology and innovation sector is one of the fastest-growing and most important contributors to the economy.
“Promoting it in the US, a market where we see growing interest and concrete action towards Cyprus, is both a priority and an opportunity,” she said.
“The companies we met are looking for a European base that works simply, with a clear legal and tax framework and a government that actively invests in innovation. We are here to show them that Cyprus fits that description.”
