A weak low pressure system brings the risk of hail and isolated storms over the mountains and inland, even as highs reach 33 degrees.

A weak area of low pressure and an unstable air mass are affecting Cyprus. Today, increased low cloud will be observed in places, particularly in the west, along with patchy fog in some areas, which is expected to clear quickly. Conditions will gradually become mostly clear across most areas, with temporary increases in cloud cover, although from around midday onwards, developing cloud is expected to bring localised rain and isolated thunderstorms, mainly over the mountains, the southeast and inland areas. Hail is possible during any thunderstorms. Winds will be mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, at 3 to 4 on the Beaufort scale, becoming moderate to strong, and locally strong, at 4 to 5 Beaufort along the coast in the afternoon. The sea will be slightly rough overall. Temperatures will reach around 33 degrees inland, 27 on the western coast, around 30 on the rest of the coast, and 24 degrees over the higher mountains.

Tonight, conditions will become mostly clear, although temporary increases in low cloud will gradually develop, particularly along the coast. Later, during the early morning hours, patchy fog or fog is expected to form locally, mainly inland and in the east. Winds will initially continue to blow mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light and temporarily reaching moderate, at 3 to 4 Beaufort, before becoming katabatic and locally variable, light, at 3 Beaufort. The sea in the south and east will become calm to slightly rough, while in the west and north it will remain slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to around 20 degrees inland and along the coast, and around 14 degrees over the higher mountains.

On Monday, conditions will initially be mostly clear, with temporary increases in low cloud along the coast. From around midday onwards, developing cloud is expected to bring localised rain and isolated thunderstorms, mainly over the mountains and inland. Hail is possible during any thunderstorms.

On Tuesday, conditions will be mostly clear across most areas, although cloud developing over the mountains after midday could bring isolated rain. On Wednesday, conditions will be mostly clear, although increased cloud cover will be observed locally at times.

Temperatures on Monday are not expected to change significantly, remaining close to seasonal averages, but will gradually rise by Wednesday, climbing above the average climatological values for this time of year.
