A quad bike was recovered from the sea near the Sea Caves area of Cape Greco with the assistance of a crane after a road accident left a 22-year-old woman hospitalised with a spinal fracture.
The accident occurred when the 22-year-old rider lost control of the quad bike while attempting to park in the Sea Caves parking area.
She and her 26-year-old passenger fell to the ground, while the quad bike continued moving uncontrollably, plunged into the sea and sank.
The vehicle was later recovered from the water with the assistance of a crane.
In a statement, the police communications branch said that, in relation to a video circulating on social media, police had received information at around 11am on 12 August 2026 regarding a quad-bike accident in the Sea Caves area of Cape Greco.
Investigations established that the quad bike was being driven by a 22-year-old woman and carrying a 26-year-old passenger.
According to police, the rider lost control of the vehicle while attempting to park in the designated parking area, causing both women to fall to the ground.
The quad bike then continued on its course and ended up in the sea, where it sank.

Police said the 22-year-old driver was injured and was taken to the accident and emergency department of Famagusta General Hospital.
Doctors determined that she had suffered a spinal fracture and she was admitted for further treatment.
