The new feature requires a valid physical identity card and does not affect access for those aged 14 and over.

Parents can now keep a digital copy of their minor children’s identity cards on their phones through the Digital Citizen app.

The feature is available in the latest version of the application on Google Play and Apple’s App Store.

How the new feature works

The Deputy Ministry of Innovation said on Thursday that either or both parents can store a digital copy of their child’s identity card through the Digital Citizen app, making it readily available when needed.

To use the new feature, the child must already have a valid physical identity card.

The ministry clarified that the change does not affect young people aged 14 and over, who can continue to store their digital identity card through the Digital Citizen app on their own mobile phone.
