A fire broke out in the early hours in a two storey house in Deryneia, causing extensive damage to a minor's bedroom and affecting the rest of the floor.
According to Fire Service spokesman Andreas Kettis, the minor had placed their mobile phone on the bed while it was charging. As soon as they noticed the fire, they alerted their parents, and the whole family left the house in time, with no one at risk.
The charger and the mobile phone have been recorded as the cause of the fire.
