A fire that broke out in the Agia Anna area has been brought under control following a major mobilisation of ground and air firefighting forces, with a total of five aircraft assisting in the effort. The fire has been contained to the Arkaki riverbed. The Fire Service also provided reinforcements with three fire engines.
Forestry Department crews were also deployed at the scene, comprising six fire engines, two water tankers and one bulldozer, with a total of 33 personnel on the ground. An Aircraft Control Officer from the Forestry Department was sent to the area to coordinate the aerial firefighting assets.
Ground and air forces remain in full mobilisation, with the aim of fully extinguishing the fire and preventing any flare-ups.
