The body recovered on Saturday from the sunken Filo Jet catamaran has been identified as Mehmet Bayhan, following DNA testing.
The identification was announced in writing on Monday by Turkish Cypriot "prime minister" Ünal Üstel.
Dispute over informing the family
Turkish Cypriot websites reported that Bayhan's name had been made public before his relatives were informed.
The "prime minister's office" subsequently issued a statement denying the reports and maintaining that the family had been notified beforehand.
Death toll rises to 15
The confirmed death toll from the Kyrenia shipwreck has now risen to 15, while 13 people remain missing.
Bayhan's father had recently said that he believed his son was dead but wanted his body to be recovered so that he could bury him.
