Eight people were injured in a shooting outside a high school in Turgutlu, Manisa, on Tuesday morning, with the suspected gunman arrested shortly afterwards.
According to Turkish media, a person armed with a shotgun opened fire outside the school. Police and emergency medical teams were dispatched to the area, while the injured were taken to nearby healthcare facilities, including Turgutlu State Hospital.
Suspect arrested
The Manisa Governor’s Office said authorities were alerted to gunfire near the high school at 7.59am on 22 September 2026.
A large number of police officers and medical personnel were sent to the scene.
Initial information indicated that eight people were affected by the incident and taken for medical treatment.
Authorities later located and arrested the suspect, who was taken into custody.
Security camera footage examined
According to Turkish media, security footage from a nearby business captured the alleged gunman arriving outside the school carrying the weapon.
The footage reportedly shows the moment shots were fired before the individual left the area.
Judicial and administrative investigations have been launched, with Turkish authorities examining the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting.
