Justice and Public Order Minister Kostas Fytiris will meet the Chief of Police on Monday afternoon to discuss security at police holding cells, after a 19-year-old detainee escaped from the Lakatamia holding cells on Friday evening. Speaking to CNA, Fytiris said the aim is to find solutions to the chronic problem of overcrowding in detention facilities. He noted that the issue falls within the remit of the police leadership, which held an emergency meeting on Saturday. The measures deemed necessary are expected to be examined at Monday's meeting.
