The presence of stray and uncontrolled dogs in Paphos State Forest has prompted concerns about visitor safety, the protection of wildlife and the welfare of the animals themselves, with the Department of Forests convening a multi-agency meeting to address the issue.

According to a statement issued by the Department of Forests, the meeting took place on 6 July 2026 with the participation of the relevant government services.

The aim was to coordinate the actions of the agencies involved and establish a clear framework for managing incidents in line with existing legislation and the responsibilities of each authority.

The Department of Forests said the presence of stray or uncontrolled dogs in the forest creates risks for wildlife, visitors and employees working in the area.
