"The House of Representatives is a fundamental pillar of our democracy and cooperation between the executive and the legislature is of decisive importance for the progress of the country," Christodoulidis said. "With respect for our distinct institutional roles, I look forward to a creative and productive collaboration, with the needs of society and the expectations of citizens as our common point of reference."

The president said that improving the daily lives of citizens remains the foremost priority, and that advancing policies that address the real issues facing society, implementing landmark reforms and maintaining the country's upward trajectory require consensus, responsibility and commitment to the public interest. "Citizens expect results from all of us. With institutional consistency and a spirit of cooperation, we can meet that responsibility and continue the effort for a stronger, more modern and more effective Cyprus," he said.
