Six Arrested and 261 Traffic Offences Recorded in Overnight Police Operation

Police stopped 595 vehicles and checked 784 drivers and passengers during the island-wide operation.

 

Six people were arrested during targeted police operations carried out across Cyprus on Friday night as part of efforts to prevent crime and strengthen public safety.

The arrests involved offences including illegal residence in the Republic, threats, causing a disturbance and traffic violations.

Officers stopped 595 vehicles and checked a total of 784 drivers and passengers. They also inspected 57 premises, resulting in eight reports for alleged offences.

During road policing checks, 261 motorists were reported for various traffic violations, including 47 for speeding.

Police carried out 266 breathalyser tests, with 16 drivers found to be over the legal alcohol limit. Two drug-driving tests were also conducted, both of which returned negative results.

A further 22 vehicles were impounded as part of ongoing police investigations.
