Seasonal low pressure is affecting the region, while unsettled weather conditions are expected to continue across Cyprus through Friday.
Today, after the dissipation of local low cloud and patches of mist, weather across most parts of the island will become mainly fine, with periods of increased cloud cover. By midday and during the afternoon, however, cloud development over the mountains and inland areas is expected to bring isolated showers and thunderstorms.
Hail cannot be ruled out in areas affected by thunderstorms.
Winds will be mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, gradually strengthening along the coast to moderate or strong, and at times strong, at 4 to 5 Beaufort.

Temperatures are expected to reach:
- Around 36C inland
- Around 30C on the west coast
- Around 33C along the remaining coastal areas
- Around 24C in the higher mountains
Tonight, conditions will remain mostly clear, although periods of increased low cloud are expected, particularly along coastal areas.
Later in the night and during the early morning hours, patches of mist or fog are expected to form locally, especially in southern, eastern and inland areas.
Winds will gradually become downslope and light at around 3 Beaufort.
The sea will remain generally calm to slight, although it will stay slightly rough in some western areas.
Overnight temperatures will fall to:
- Around 22C inland
- Around 23C on the coast
- Around 17C in the higher mountains
On Friday, weather across most of the island will remain mainly fine with periods of increased cloud. During the afternoon, cloud build-up over the mountains and possibly inland areas may produce isolated showers and the chance of an isolated thunderstorm.
Saturday and Sunday are expected to be generally fine.
Temperatures are not expected to change significantly on Friday and will remain close to seasonal averages. A slight increase is forecast on Saturday.
