The future of DIKO's cooperation with the government is set to be at the centre of a meeting between the party's Secretariat and President Nikos Christodoulides on Friday.
Speaking on CyBC radio's Proino Dromologio programme, DIKO deputy president Christiana Erotokritou said discussions at Tuesday's meeting of the party's collective bodies focused both on relations with the government and on recent developments surrounding corruption-related issues.
Party rejects speculation over positions
Erotokritou dismissed reports suggesting that DIKO is seeking to secure additional ministerial portfolios or other state appointments.
She stressed that the party's objective is to engage in a substantive political discussion with Christodoulides regarding the course of their cooperation rather than negotiations over posts.
Reshuffle and semi-governmental organisations on agenda
According to Erotokritou, Friday's meeting will cover:
- The future direction of DIKO's partnership with the government
- The anticipated cabinet reshuffle
- The renewal of boards at semi-governmental organisations
The talks come amid ongoing political discussions over the government's future composition and appointments to key state bodies, with both sides expected to assess the current state of their cooperation and priorities going forward.
