US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in New York on Wednesday, according to the US State Department.
The meeting will take place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, which both ministers are attending, and has also been confirmed by the Russian side.
Ukraine war in focus
The meeting comes as the war in Ukraine remains a central issue in US-Russia contacts.
Rubio and Lavrov last met in Manila in July, where they discussed relations between Washington and Moscow and the need to bring the war in Ukraine to an end.
