Massive Embezzlement Case
Authorities are reported to be investigating quite a detailed and well documented charge of a massive fraud and embezzlement case to the tune of 8 million euro. Credible sources tell 'Politis' that it involves a Cyprus company and the main suspects are the CEO, a Greek national and an Israel businessman, who's known to the CID on a number of other cases. Based on the complaint, the two suspects and a number of local accomplices conspired to degraud the company and used fake documents to embezzle the amount. The same sources said that if an investigation is not launchd soon, a thick folder of proof, including names and addresses, will be relayed to the media.

Hartsiotis and the north
Marios Hartsiotis is now minister to the President and his portfolio includes the missing persons issue and the well being of our enclaved in the Karpass peninsula and Kormakitis. When is Hartsiotis actually visiting Rizokarpaso, Apostolos Andreas and Kormakitis? We hope there is no truth to reports that Hartsiotis is refusing to cross over to the north. That's his personal right obviously but if the information stands, he really shouldn't be working as Minister to the President.

Cheaper electricity
We will certainly not be seeing significant electricity price reductions in 2026. And why not? Well, let's just look over the facts. The EAC continues to produce expensive electricity using crude oil, at over 30 cent a kilowatt. And what's more, photovoltaic parks, in spite sub 10 cent prices, are selling electricity at over 30, just because they want it so. The Vasiliko terminal is an endless project, with the European Prosecutor's Office looking into a serious scandal. If there's no natural gas coming, neither the EAC nor Mr.Chrysochou's station next door will be operating. Furthermore the GSI now seems to be a definite NO, while neither the batteries to store electricity from photovoltaics will be arriving anytime soon. Due to the lack in storage space, 40% of electricity is wasted daily since 2023. Who's paying for all this? Definitely not the incompetent government and Christodoulides, who is not really providing any solutions, but instead flying around in his little plane, playing dandy. Who benefits? Is it perhaps the owners of photovoltaic parks? How are they all related to Mr.President?

Limassol Criminal Power Play
The underworld continues to fight for control of the Limassol turf. Last Thursday there was a third attack against property owned by Russian businessman Pounin. The first two attacks involved the torching of luxury cars, while in the last instance, they bombed his wine cellar in Yermasoyia. Pounin was a close associate of assassinated Stavros Dimosthenous, as both were on the Karmiotissa football club executive board. A police source told us that such criminal operations following the Demosthenous killing are related to the blackmail of businessmen and aimed at 'selling protection'. We all realise that Limassol, the financial capital of Cyprus is in danger of becoming organised crime controlled, as police are too weak to react. If crime is not rooted out and business is not considered safe but hostage to criminals, then a business exit is inevitable.
